I personally feel that 'design' is something more than just a process embarked upon when creating something tangible. It is not limited by affecting the physical and not simply a process. Also, I think design can occur without conscious intention.
In calling this firm 'Design Guru' I wanted to express that many different people can be designers - people who creatively solve problems for humanity's benefit. Design Guru is a network of my associates who share this belief. Together we create innovative/unique spaces on the web that feel comfortable, welcoming and empowering to the people who use them.
Though I'm very excited by all sorts of technological developments, I am particularily motivated by those which allow people to transcend physical space to interact and communicate with a multitute of media.
I was born in Edmonton, Alberta and have since lived in Nairobi, Montreal, New York and now call Toronto my home. In 1998 I attended McGill University to study Hinduism & Buddhism as well as approach an inter-disciplanary study of the relationship between 'the City' and how urban contexts foster modern aesthetics in music.
I founded Design Guru in 2005 and act as its Principal - which is a multi-faceted role entailing project conception & management, design & development work.
In 2003 I founded a project called Indian Electronica - initially an online magazine chronicalling developments in South Asian flavored electronic music. I had been hearing new sounds developing from artists around the world and wanted to provide forum for dialog between these artists and their fans; the website has since grown into a record label, international music festival and online radio station.
